Seed Capital for Cures

Seed Capital for CuresSeed Capital for Cures provides the charitable equivalent of start-up financing for innovative research projects designed to achieve breakthroughs in the understanding and treatment of pediatric cancers.

For donors who are interested in making a major contribution and personally helping a novel research idea to take hold, the JWF selects a small number of projects based on important, well-conceived research questions that aim to shake up thinking about cancer with potentially “game-changing” ideas. We match donors with projects that stimulate their interests and we give them the opportunity to see first-hand how their contributions make a difference, through periodic updates and dialogue with the researchers.

Charitable support is critical for our Seed Capital for Cures projects because they fall outside the mainstream of conventional government funding; at the same time, they hold promise for the transformational science that is key to the advancement of cancer research, much in the same way that small start-up ventures have historically provided the “seed” ideas that changed the course of technology in areas such as personal computing or social media.

Seed Capital for Cures offers donors the opportunity to join a group of far-sighted and committed philanthropists, and make a major and personal imprint on the future of pediatric cancer research.
